Kohima, Feb 26: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party has dismissed the rumour
circulating is social media that the NDPP-BJP alliance had decided on a merger
of the two parties.
According to a release, the NDPP media & communications committee called this rumour ‘propaganda’ and assured citizens of the state that they would stand firm on the commitments they had given to the electorate.
“There is no question of merger with anybody” the release asserted. It said that the NDPP had full faith in the wisdom of the Naga people and they would themselves not resort to any forms of false rumours and propaganda that spread lies, the release also said.
In a separate release, the NDPP Peren Assembly Constituency (A/C) has accused an official of the urban development department of canvassing for a candidate of the constituency by “alluring the innocent voters with government schemes.”
In a complaint to the Chief Election Officer (CEO) issued by NDPP Peren A/C president Itwa has asked the CEO, to look into this matter with the utmost seriousness as per the election conduct rules. The NDPP called this conduct a serious breach of rules because the said official allegedly not only supported a candidate but used government resources to do so.
The NDPP demanded that the officer be suspended and a high level enquiry be set up.
The release also said that the officer should be arrested and befitting punishment meted out to serve as an example for other officers. UNI
