Sonamura, Tripura, Feb
8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lashed out at the CPI-M for
pursuing the politics of threat and intimidation in poll-bound Tripura and
sought the ouster of Manik Sarkar as the Chief Minister.
Ab aap
Manik se mukti le lo.....aap ko chahiye Hira.....(Some people wear rings of
particular gemstones for improving luck and life. But if you wear a wrong
{Manik} gemstone, then it causes trouble. So, Tripura had a wrong Manik (Chief
Minister), for long. Now, it's time to take it off and get a new HIRA -
diamond). H-Highway, I=I ways R=Roads A=Airways," Mr Modi said, in his
irreplaceable style.
Addressing his maiden election rally here, he assured among other things, quick implementation of the 7th Pay Commission report for the state government employees.
The Prime Minister referred to the much-talked about Rose Valley Chit Fund scam and said those responsible for "cheating" investors, should be punished in the February 18 elections.
Seeking votes for BJP candidates, Mr Modi said, 'BJP nominees are not the only ones fighting the elections. Every citizen of Tripura is actually fighting the poll battle for their betterment and future. I have seen the best government also being thrown out from the power, when people (Janata Janardhan) disliked them. Time has come to pull down Manik Sarkar for his failure in governance in 25 years.'
He, however, stated that the Centre had done a lot for Tripura in the last four years, which had not got importance in the previous government. Tripura also got Rajdhani Express and Tripura Sundari express connecting New Delhi and other trains connecting Guwahati, Kolkata and Bangaluru. Allocation has been made for international airport in Agartala and eight national highways.
He alleged that the CPI-M regime has been trying to keep the poor and innocent people "under bondage" and citizens could not even register police cases if there was no approval from the CPI-M party bosses.
"Julm karne walo ka jana padega (Those who have committed so much injustice and crime against the citizens of Tripura must be thrown out now," Mr Modi said amid chanting of slogans 'Chalo Paltai (Come, let us Change) and also 'Modi Modi'.
The Prime Minister said under the future BJP government in Tripura, emphasis will be laid on three chief sectors -- Trade, Tourism and Training for the youths.
He also said that Agartala has become the third international internet gateway after Mumbai and Chennai that opened the opportunity of massive investment in IT sector but the left front government could not use the infrastructure for the development of state. The central government has made arrangement of connectivity via Bangladesh and soon Tripura will be the important destination for South East Asia.
The CPI-M led Left Front government came to power in Tripura in 1993 after the end of five year Congress rule and the incumbent Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is in office since 1998.
The BJP leadership has eyed this northeastern state to wrest power and the party's organisational growth has been phenomenal in last two years.
The Prime Minister's two mega rallies - at Sonamura and Kailashahar - come amid reports and various surveys predicting that the BJP has seen phenomenal growth in last two years and also that the party records a significant jump in the vote share.
The BJP vote share in 2013 Assembly polls was near negligible at 1.57 per cent and in 2014 parliamentary polls had risen to 5.7 per cent.
However, the BJP poll strategists now claim that the saffron party can record near about 50 per cent vote share. UNI
