New Delhi, Feb 9: The Election Commission on Friday announced that Lok Sabha bypolls to Gorakhpur and Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh and Araria in Bihar, will be held on March 11. 
The Commission also announced bypolls to Bhabua and Jehanabad Assembly constituencies in Bihar, to be held on the same day. 
Gorakhpur seat was vacated by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while Phulpur by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. RJD MP Mohammed Taslimuddin's death necessitated the Araria seat by-election. 
According to the Election Commission, the last date for filing of nominations is February 20, while on the next day, the papers would be scrutinised. February 23 is the last date for the withdrawal of papers. Polling will be held on March 11 and counting is scheduled on March 14.
The dates for the polls have been decided after taking into consideration various factors like local festivals, publication of electoral rolls and weather conditions, the Commission said in a statement here. UNI
