Kolkata, Feb 8: Michael' aka Michael Khan Sen, whose mother was fond of Michael Madhusudan Dutta will rule the silver screen for coming weeks.
Satrajit Sen, who already have won a national award as a producer for the film 'Bakita
Byaktigato' 2014 is debuting as a director with this film.
Satrajit, who is an ardent admirer of Woody Allen, in an exclusive conversation with,
said that his film definitely will seem influenced by Woody Allen.
He also clearly states that from the inception, the casting of Mir as Michael and Soumitra Chatterjee as Mayurbahon was on his mind and literally they were irreplaceable.
The film also stars Swastika Mukherjee, Tonusree Chakraborty, Arunima Ghosh, Sayani Datta, Kanchan Mullick and Payel Mukherjee in some important characters. The USP of the film definitely will be the character of Mayurbahon. Yes! He is the Mayurbahon from Tapan Sinha directed 'Jhinder-Bandi'.
'Jhinder-Bandi' actually portrayed Soumitra Chatterjee as villain Mayurbahon and after 57 years what he is doing. A forgotten hero, doper, womanizer Mayurbahon, a role Soumitra Chatterjee is playing first time in his life will going to allure the audience of Bengali cinema for sure.
“Soumitra , himself seems pleased after having and playing this character and he also said that no one have ever offered me a character like this, is definitely the best compliment I have ever got,” said Satrajit.
Satrajit probably is the only director in Bengali film arena who earlier had assisted a director like Bill Hopkins, who eventually was the chief assistant director of legendary Martin Scorsese and Clint Eastwood. Not only assist but he also made 15 minutes short there in abroad.

Anyhow his name has been attached numerous times with good Bengali film as producer or as presenter.
Now as director he is very much confident that his directorial definitely will establish a distinctive signature which will be seen in his further works too. Basically he is a voracious world movie buff who has a huge collection of world movies and a long list of preferences with the name of Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, Alfred itchcock, Francois Truffaut and many more. He is not only a movie buff but also a die-hard sports lover, who also featured in rugby, cricket, bike and car-rally etc.
“I am very much active in social media and after tomorrow, I think my online activities should be reduced drastically. I will definitely read what people are writing for my film and I know there will be positive and negative reviews simultaneously but I won’t spam my timeline with any of those, neither with positives and nor with negatives”, concluded the debutante director.
So, ‘Michael’ is going to be the colourful initial stepping stone from an utter colourful persona who is definitely the only Bengali director with the guts to say that in a dominating style, “Don’t worry; I’ve made an excellent film.”
The film will hit the silver screen tomorrow. UNI
