Feb 2: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has voiced confidence that the Congress will bounce to power in 2019 general elections
in the country, especially after winning the by-polls in Rajasthan.
“It was appropriately articulated by the Congress president
(Rahul Gandhi) here on January 30. (Congress returning to power in the country). The by-polls result in Rajasthan is an indication of what is going to come,” Dr Sangma told.
“In fact, there is an actual anger and frustration against the BJP combined government
by the people of the country. What was already articulated by the Congress President it will happen in the next general elections in 2019,” he added.
Dr. Sangma exuded confidence that Congress will snatch away power in the BJP-ruled
states – Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
In the context of Meghalaya which is going to polls on February 27, Dr Sangma said, “The maturity of the people of Meghalaya as I have said is always more vigilant and alert from other parts of the country in fighting against these forces, which are creating chaos and disorder.”
Election to the 60-member Meghalaya Assembly will be held on February 27. UNI
