Shillong,
February 2: The state unit of Meghalaya Congress took a dig at the BJP
over its "Time for change" slogan by saying that the latter would
bring change by it "diktats" what people would eat and wear.
"BJP's time for change means-We are going to change the
way you eat and wear by our diktats. It is a big question whether people of
Meghalaya want such change," General Secretary of Meghalaya Pradesh
Congress Committee, Sanjay Das told here. The Congress leader said that BJP in the name of 'change' would only bring 'division" in this peace prevailing state not 'development'.
Hitting out at the saffron party, Mr Das said,"the party totally campaigns on a 'false agenda' and try to fool people. They try to make people believe which practically doesn't exist."
"BJP and its leaders talk about development across the country. What have they developed? Gujarat model is a failure. They talk about many things but nothing has been implemented practically ," the senior Congress leader said.
Mr Das also alleged that a party (BJP) indulged in various 'irregularaties' is asking for a 'report card' of the works done by the ruling Congress government in the state .
"What report card do they want? All sorts of developmental works have been carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma. We don't say that we have done everything but we are in a process of achieving our goals," he said.
The party leader also expressed confidence that in the ensuing Assembly polls, Congress party would emerge as the single largest party by winning over 30 out of 60 seats and form the Government.
The polling for the Meghalaya Assembly poll is slated to be held on February 27. The results would be declared on March 3. UNI
