New Delhi, Feb 3: The Congress on Saturday said the CBI has registered false criminal case against former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and termed it as 'political vendetta'.
The Congress said that this was an attempt by the Modi Government to divert attention from its mis-governance at the Centre.
The party said its leaders will fight these conspiracies and false criminal cases with full rigor and not cowed down in face of these obvious attempts at seeking revenge and vendetta.
Talking to mediapersons here, AICC media in charge Randeep Surjewala said the cases filed against Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot (Rajasthan), Virbhadra Singh (Himachal), P Chidambaram and his son (Tamil Nadu), Ashok Chavan (Maharashtra), Sheila Dixit (Delhi), Harish Rawat (Uttarakhand) and Bhupinder Hooda (Haryana) was part of conspiracy hatched by Modi Government and BJP leadership for their vested political interests.
'Political witch hunt, vendetta and malicious intent to seek revenge have blinded Modi and Khattar government in registering a series of criminal cases against Congress leaders across the country, more so in Haryana against former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda,' he said.
This is a sinister hallmark of Modi governments style of functioning, Mr Surjewala said.
He said that this vindictive and vengeful conspiracy was even more glaring in Haryana in successive registration of false criminal cases and filing of charge sheet by CBI against Mr Hooda on Friday and cases registered by Haryana Police, CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Pointing out that only a day earlier, i.e. on February 1, 2018, ED filed a similar charge sheet against former Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Mr Surjewala said.
'Modi Government is using agencies like CBI as their captive puppets. CBI has truly become a BJPs ‘Captive Bureau of Investigation', he said.
He said the case registered against Mr Hooda was an attempt to divert attention from the abject failure of the Khattar Government in Haryana.
'Criminal case registered by CBI and the consequent charge sheet filed yesterday in Manesar Land case are ploys of BJP to draw attention away from their misdeeds and miseries resulting out of total political and administrative failure of Khattar Government,' he said.
Mr Surjewala said that while the Manesar land was released on August 24 2007, the Khattar Government has lodged an FIR after eight years against unnamed persons, which was then handed over by a predetermined design to CBI.
The CBI on Friday filed a charge sheet against former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and 33 others in the Manesar land scam case.In 2007, private builders with the help of several government official had purchased about 400 acres land in Manesar at a very low price, which according to CBI has caused a loss of Rs 1,500-cr to state exchequer. UNI
