Kailshahar (Tripura),
Feb 9: The BJP is committed to herald a terror-free and corruption-free
Tripura, state unit chief Biplab Kumar Deb has said here.
Addressing the party's mega election rally here on Thursday,
speaking just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech, Mr Deb said the
CPI-M has technically accepted "defeat" as the party did not put forward
an election manifesto or party's vision for next five years.
"Instead they have come out with a charter of demand ....and you all know it all, who comes with the charter of demands. Only a party who sits in the opposition can come with a charter of demands....A party that will rule will come out with a vision statement or manifesto," he said amid thundering applause from the crowd gathered from three districts of Dhalai, Unakoti and North Tripura.
The rally here on Thursday, according to BJP estimates, has gone down as immensely successful despite attempts made by the state's ruling dispensation to sabotage and disturb it.
Faced with an aggressive election campaign by the BJP's mega stars including central leaders and even Prime Minister Modi, the CPI(M) on Thursday organised a major election rally at Shantir Bazar in Surma Assembly segment in Dhalai district.
The rally addressed by CPI(M)'s star campaigner and Chief Minister Manik Sarkar was perhaps planned in this region in northern part of Tripura coinciding with the timing of Mr Modi's rally at Kailashahar apparently to 'upset' BJP's Mega Rally.
A large number of BJP workers from places like Kamalpur, Manik Bhandar, Surma assembly segment and Ambasa in the Dhalai district and key political hubs like Shantir Bazaar, Kulai and Halali also attended Prime Minister's rally.
According to CPI-M sources, Mr Sarkar's rally at Shantir Bazar was also successful.
In his speech, Mr Deb has said that the party would also work sincerely to put Tripura on the development track -- something that remained neglected for two decades since the CPI-M led Left Front came to power in the state.
According to BJP sources, the saffron party is concentrating on youngsters who it claims ‘want change’ from the CPM-led-government, which is facing sharp anti-incumbency. UNI
