Srinagar, Jan 12: Train service resumed on Friday after remaining suspended for two days due to security reasons in south Kashmir, where a youth was killed when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators who hit the streets after a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant was killed in an encounter on January 9.
All trains will run in the Kashmir valley today on all routes, a railway official told.
He said train will run on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigung in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region after remaining suspended for two days for security reasons.
'We are acting on the advice of local administration and police who are taking decision keeping in view the security situation in the valley, he said, adding that a fresh advisory was received on Thursday night to resume train service in south Kashmir from today.
However, rail service remained unaffected in north Kashmir and trains continued to chug on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla track normally during all these days. UNI
