Nashik, Jan 17: Veteran social activist and founder of Probodhini Trust, Rajanitai Limaye passed away following a brief illness. 
Limaye (82) had been unwell for the two months and is survived by her husband, son and daughter.
The end came at a private hospital on Tuesday and her eyes were donated to Tulsi Eye hospital, while her body was donated to medical college Nashik.
Limaye set up Prabodhini trust in 1977, an institution for the draining, education and rehabilitation of the mentally challenged.
Besides, she established her first school Prabodhini vidyamandir for specially-abled children, with only four students which now has gone up to 350.
Rajanitai is the aunt of renowned Marathi actress and author Nishigandha Wad and elder sister of senior litterateur Vijay Wad.
She wrote collection of poems for children, Goduli Gani. She also wrote Jagar and Dhyanimani books.
Rajanitai won many awards, including National award for teacher in 1986, which was received at the hand of the then president of India R Venkatraman. UNI
