Delhi, Jan 18: In an attempt to resolve the crisis, Chief Justice Dipak
Misra on Thursday held a meeting with the four judges, who went public against
the CJI on allocation of cases six days ago.
During the meeting, which lasted for half an hour, at the
CJI’s chamber, CJI Misra and other four judges, Justice Chelameswar, Ranjan
Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph, discussed the contentious points,
sources said.It was a second meeting that the CJI held with the four judges after the crisis erupted. On Tuesday they met over tea for 15 minutes to discuss the issues.
According to sources, Thursday’s meeting discussed mainly the possibility of constituting a ‘specialised’ bench for allocation of particular cases. The meeting also discussed to form a mechanism to check allegations against judges, if arisen, sources said.
The four dissenting judges’ meeting the media on January 12 had triggered an unprecedented crisis in the top judiciary. UNI
