PM salutes skills, strengths and fortitude of girl child

New Delhi, Jan 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted the skills, strengths and fortitude of the girl child on the occasion on National Girl Child Day on Wednesday.

'We salute the skills, strengths and fortitude of the girl child. We are proud of the accomplishments of the girl child in various fields,' Mr Modi wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.
On the occasion, the Health and Family Welfare ministry said ,'Let us save the girl child. #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao #SwasthaBharat #HealthForAll.'
The ministry also displayed a poster on its twitter handle saying,' Stop Sex Selection. Save the Girl child. Pre-conception sex selection and pre-natal sex determination is a criminal offence under the Pre-conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, 1994.'
Every offence under PC and PNDT Act, 1994 is cognisable, non-bailable and non-compoundable.
'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' is one of the flagship campaigns of NDA Government that aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls. The Scheme has brought very encouraging results in Haryana or the first time. The state has claimed to have logged the highest ever sex ratio of 914 girls against 1,000 boys in 2017.
