Five of family killed, 1 hurt as car rams into stationery canter vehicle

Bengaluru, Jan 1: In a tragic incident on the New Year Day, five members of a family were killed and another seriously injured when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary canter vehicle near Gavimath of Kunigal taluk in Tumkur district on Monday.

Police said the family members was proceeding to Goravanahali Lakshmi Temple to offer prayers on the New Year Day when the accident occurred.
The car driver, who is seriously injured and battling for life in a hospital, tried to avoid hitting a child
who suddenly ran across the road and dashed the vehicle against the stationary vehicle, police said. 
The deceased, who belonged to Choudanakuppe village in the taluk, were identified as Siddoji Rao (60) Usha Bai (38), Bhuvana (16), Kirtana (6) and Hitesh (4).
Local MLA D Nagarajaiah rushed to the spot and consoled the deceased family members who had arrived at the accident site from their village. Kunigal police have booked a case. UNI
