New Delhi, Jan 1: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to announce the name of its candidates for
the January 16 biennial elections to the three Rajya Sabha seats in Delhi
within the next two days, party sources said today.
The sources said that the names are likely to be
decided on January 3 in the meeting of the AAP political affairs committee
(PAC) .
However, the suspense continues over the possible AAP nominees for the Rajya Sabha seats.
Over the last several months, the names of senior party leaders Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh and Sanjay Singh have been doing the rounds as possible nominees.
According to sources, party leaders have made up its mind to give one of the three seats to Sanjay Singh, the close aide of Arvind Kejriwal .
The possibility of Kumar Vishwas, whose supporters have been demanding RS seat for him , however, seems to be a bleak one in the present scenario as he shares an uneasy relationship with some leaders of the party including party convenor Arvind Kejriwal, they stated.
On Thursday, supporters of Mr Vishwas pitched tents in the party office demanding that leaders who have worked in the anti-corruption movement should be sent to the Rajya Sabha.
A section of the AAP leaders feel that the party should send to the Rajya Sabha people from the fields of economics, law and social work .
The last date of the filing of the nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections is January 5 while scrutiny of papers would be held on January 6. The last date for the withdrawal of candidature for the elections is January 8.
The AAP, which enjoys a brute majority of 66 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, is all set to win all the three seats. UNI
