Jammu, 31 Jan: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh along with Kisan Welfare Advisory Board Vice Chairman Daljit Singh Chib,  MLA Rajeev Sharma, MLC Ch. Vikram Randhawa, MLC S. Charanjeet Singh Khalsa and other local senior BJP leaders paid floral tributes to the Martyrs of 1953 Praja Parishad Andolan for “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” in a programme at Jourian.
Dr. Nirmal Singh while paying tributes, said that every Nation becomes great due to the sacrifices by great men and ours is a proud land where we have rich history of struggles for the better society. He said that our soldiers, members of Para-military forces, policemen and civilians lay down their lives for the cause of the nation, thereby creating legacy of Patriotism.
While paying tributes to the Martyrs Wariam Singh, Baldev Singh, Sai Singh, Trilok Singh, Basant Ram, Nanak Chand and Mela Ram, Deputy Chief Minister said that the sacrifices of these martyrs will be remembered forever. He also appealed to the masses to pass on the history of these heroes to the future generations to imbibe the spirit of patriotism among them.
He also paid tributes to the CEC, LAHDC, Leh, Dr. Sonam Dawa who passed away in Leh on the other day. Earlier, the Kissan Mela due to be held here was postponed due to the untimely death of Dr. Sonam Dawa.
Daljit Singh Chib said that while the country became independent in 1947 but citizens of our state did not enjoy the same freedom like other states. He said that today we feel pride of living in a democratic setup but credit for the same goes to these martyrs.
Vikram Randhawa said that these martyrs laid down their lives for complete integration of the state with the rest of country. He said that the real tributes to them will be fulfilling the dreams of these great patriots.
Charanjeet Singh Khalsa asked all to take pledge to always keep the National spirit high in the region. He prompted all to work whole heartedly for the Nation and the society.
MLCs Vikram Randhawa and Charanjeet Singh Khalsa announced Rs.10 Lac each from their CDF for the construction of community hall at Shaheedi Smarak, Jourian.
