BJP not interested is acting in '84 riots case: AAP

New Delhi, Jan 11: After the Supreme Court said on Wednesday that it will entrust as many as 186 anti-Sikh riot cases from 1984 to a new Special Investigation Team, the Aam Aadmi party on Thursday asked the BJP why was the saffron party not interested in acting against those involved in 1984 Sikh riots.

Addressing a press conference here, AAP leaders Sanjay Singh, Jarnail Singh and Avatar Singh Kalkaji said,' whether it is 1984 Sikh riots or 2002, the BJP has taken no action against the guilty. '
The Supreme Court said on Wednesday it will entrust as many as 186 anti-Sikh riot cases from 1984 to a new Special Investigation Team (SIT).
These cases, which have not yet been investigated by a Centre-appointed SIT, will be sent for further investigation to a new SIT headed by a retired high court judge. 
Pointing out that the SC said 193 cases out of 290 have been closed, Mr Sanjay Singh said,'the question is why is the BJP not keen to act against those involved in 1984 riots case.'
'Centre's intent is questionable because not accepting the SIT made by 49-day AAP government in Delhi, the BJP-led Centre made its own SIT, so that accused could be saved, and this has been questioned even by the apex court,' Mr Singh said.
Mr Jarnail Singh said Bills on Anti Communal law and Ethnic Violence law were never brought by the Centre, and demanded that they be passed as soon as possible.
He said Parliament should pass a resolution condemning the violence as had been done in the Delhi Assembly.
'In 2013, When AAP came to power for the first time, it constituted a SIT but the Congress-led Centre sat on it. Then in 2015, BJP constituted the SIT, just a day before AAP government came to power in Delhi for the second time. 
This clearly indicates that BJP and Congress are hand in glove with each other,' he said..
Pointing out that many witnesses passed away during the period, the AAP leaders said,'now those who are alive, should be given protection and trials be completed within an year.' Mr Jarnail Singh demanded that the Congress should expel Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar. UNI
