Chennai, Nov 20: Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minster D Jayakumar today said the state government would not hesitate to take legal action
against actor Kamal Haasan if he
continues to make 'baseless, frivolous and imaginary' charges of corruption
against the government. Talking to reporters here, Mr Jayakumar said Kamal's
remarks on corruption against
the state government showed that he was still living the character that he
played in one own films 'Guna', in which he
donned the role of a mentally-challenged youth, who always lives in illusion'. Kamal, who of late has been time and again talking about his
entry into politics, has become an acerbic critic of the ruling AIADMK Amma regime
headed by Chief Minister Edappadi
K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam. After drawing the ire of several Ministers and AIADMK
leaders for his earlier remark
that all the departments were steeped in corruption, the actor, in his latest
tweet last night, upped the ante against the
government. In an apparent reference to the recent IT raids at the
premises of jailed and expelled AIAMDK leader V K Sasikala and her entire family
during which assets to the tune of Rs 1,430 crore were said to have been
unearthed, besides at the
residence of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, he tweeted
'It is a crime for a government to indulge in looting and if it is not proved
after it came to light is also an offence.' 'The
alarm bell has been rung. Criminals should not rule , people should get
the Republic (state) function', he said.
'People should turn judges. Let's wake up and
arise', the 63-year-old actor said,
in one of the most damning attack on the state government. UNI
