Oct 7: The Law department of Tripura has declared as many as five courts
of sessions judge as Special Courts to try all cases of the persons with
disabilities as mandated by law facilitate equal opportunity of justice to all
sections of the society. “ In exercise of the powers conferred under Section-84
of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the state government in
consultation with Chief Justice of High Court of Tripura, T Vaiphai specifies the
five courts as; ‘Special Court’ to try all cases falls in Rights of Persons
with Disabilities Act, 2016,” said Law Secretary D M Jamatia. He said the
designated five courts of sessionS judges are West Tripura Judicial district
(Agartala), Court of Sessions judge of Unakoti Judicial district (Kailashahar),
Court of Sessions judge of North Tripura judicial district (Dharmanagar), Court
of Sessions judge of Gomati Judicial district (Udaipur) and Court of Sessions
judge of South Tripura judicial district (Belonia). He pointed out that the
state government has already taken a number of steps to ensure protection of
the rights of the persons capable otherwise as per the Act and after
designating the courts for the persons with disabilities would help them to get
convenience in trial in any case. UNI
