Rameswaram,
Sep 12: The Sri Lankan Naval forces arrested 12 Indian fishermen and
confiscated two mechanized fishing trawlers on the alleged charges of violating
the maritime boundary of the Island nation and indulged in illegal fishing
activities at midnight last night. Official sources said the incarcerated
fishermen hailed from Thangatchimadam fishing hamlet and were detained by the
Lankan Navy, when they were reportedly fishing near the Delft Island. The
fishermen were taken to Kankesanthurai port for interrogation. They will be
handed over to the fisheries officials for onward legal action. UNI
