SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 11: The annual Baba Panj Peer Dangal competition was organised at Village Ramgarh in Samba.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga was the
Chief Guest at the sports event.
The Minister said that Wrestling is one of the most popular local
sports in rural areas of our country and such events need to be encouraged to
promote the sport and added that the event shall nurture local wrestlers and
help them in gaining recognition. He said that sports keep youngsters away from
bad habits like drug addiction and channelizes their energy in positive
direction. He also announced Rs 10000/ for winners apart from the prize money
and appreciated Kala Singh and Hazara Singh from organising committee for
organising the event.
The main bout was won by Rashid from Vijaypur against Sonu from
Amristsar and was awarded Refrigerator. Meanwhile, in the second bout, which
was fought between Zakir from Sarore and Vijay from Udhampur, Vijay won
and was awarded cash prize.
