JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 11 - Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today stressed on the need to focus on providing value based learning to the students so that they can become responsible citizens of the society.
“The
students must be taught citizen’s responsibility towards the nation
right from the beginning,” he said, adding that, “overall development of students is
imperative so that they can give expression to their ideas, thoughts and
knowledge at various forums”.
The Speaker was addressing a gathering during a felicitation programme
organized by Dainik Jagran group to honour the students who have excelled in
the Sanskarshala programme organised by the newspaper group for inculcating
social and religious values among the students.
Lauding the role of teachers in the life of students, the Speaker said
students are the building blocks of the society and teachers are the sculptors
who chisel out the best of student’s capabilities thus enabling them to
become responsible citizens of tomorrow.
Viraj Laxmi Srivastava of Shangrilla Public School bagged the first
prize while as Tanya and Vidushi Chalotra of Shiksha Niketan School and
Maharishi Vidya Mandir School managed to secure second and third spots
respectively in the category of 3-5 years of age.
Anubha Gupta of Shangrilla Public School secured the first place while
as Maskeen Singh of Army Public School, Kaluchak and Charu Sharma of Shangrilla
Public School picked the second and third spots in the category of 6-8 years of
age.
In the category of 9-12 years, Rajeshwar from Army Public School,
Akhnoor, Shivane Diwan from Maharishi Vidya Mandir School and Jasmeen Kour from
Shri Guru Gobind Singh School bagged the first, second and third positions
respectively. Thirty students were also given consolation prizes in all the
categories.
