GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 12: In order
to resolve peoples’ grievance at their doorsteps, District Development Commissioner
Ganderbal, Dr Piyush Singla held a public durbar at Wakoora today.
SSP Ganderbal, ADDC, ADC, District officers, representatives of Peoples
Welfare Society Ganderbal and a large number of locals were present at the
durbar.
During the durbar, locals raised various issues regarding road
connectivity, construction of link roads, macadamization,
restoration/renovation and regulation of water supply pipes, renovation and
maintenance of power supply lines, health care, transportation facilities,
irrigation facilities, provisions of food grain and other civic amenities.
The DDC gave them a patient hearing and assured them that all of their
genuine demands would be taken up and addressed in a time bound manner.
Regarding power supply, the Executive Engineer PDD apprised the durbar
that as many as 1200 electric poles have been installed and damaged
transformers have been replaced by fresh ones. The Department accords priority
to restore HT and LT lines. DPR’s for installation of street lights
in areas of Dub, Butwina and other localities of Wakora have been submitted for
approval, he informed.
The DDC enjoined upon engineers of Irrigation and Flood Control to
prioritize renovation and cleanliness of Dub Canal and other Canal to boost
agriculture and horticulture sectors in the area.
Almost all old and rusted PHE pipes are being removed by fresh stock to
improve water supply in the area, executive Engineers PHE apprised the Darbar.
During the darbar grievances regarding scale of sugar were also taken
up.
It was also revealed that school upgradation works in the area have been
referred to the Government for consideration, besides the construction of
fencing wall for Government Girls Middle School Butwina.
The DDC impressed upon locals to co-operate with officers for removing
encroachments and extend a helping hand in execution of various development
schemes, so that their benefits reach to society at large.
