New Delhi, Sept 11: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is arriving India on a two-day official visit from September 13 on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to a spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs, during the visit both the Prime Ministers will hold the 12th India-Japan Annual Summit in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in Gujarat. "This will be the fourth Annual Summit between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Abe," the spokesman said. The two Leaders will review the recent progress in the multifaceted cooperation between India and Japan under the framework of their 'Special Strategic and Global Partnership' and will set its future direction too, the spokesman said. Notably, the foundation ceremony of the ambitious bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai will be laid by Prime Minister Modi and his Japanese counterpart Abe during the visit. The $17-billion high-speed railway line of 508 km to be built on Japan’s famous Shinkansen technology, is expected to be operational by 2022-23, India’s 75th year of Independence. The first agreement on the project was signed between India and Japan during Mr Abe’s visit to India in December 2015. UNI
