KISHTWAR, SEPTEMBER 11: A meeting regarding road safety management was
held today under the chairmanship of DDC Angrez Singh Rana at DC office here.
Representatives from Department of Transport, Police, PWD, GREEF,
Kishtwar Development Authority, RDD, NHAI, Traffic, Municipal Committee,
Information, Health and Education were present in the meeting.
During the meeting various precaution measures were discussed to
reduce the number of road accidents. DDC instructed to develop an action plan
for road safety with specific performance targets and identified resources.
Issues pertaining to various safety measures like installation of
CCTV camera to monitor traffic, setting up of special investigation agency to
investigate road accidents, Improved road marking and signals, road safety
audit and implementation of recommendations, Improvement of junctions on state
high ways and other roads, installation of lighting system on highway near
habitations, removal of dangerous road side object and hoardings were discussed
thoroughly.
DDC directed the concerned department to sensitize people about safe
driving and use of helmets, seat belts, following road signals, avoiding
rash driving besides establishing a special road safety unit to monitor and
improve the safety of road network.
DDC also explored the possibilities of Installation of speed
management devises, installation of GOS in commercial vehicle.
ADC Kishori Lal Sharma, CPO Yasir Balwan, DySP Hq Toussif Rishoo
besides district officer of line department were present in the meeting.
