Chennai, Sep 11: Mr M Natarajan, husband of jailed 'interim' AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala, was suffering from multiple organ failure and was admitted to a private hospital. The 74-year-old Natarajan was awaiting cadaver liver transplantation. A bullet in issued by the Gleneagles Global Health City, here today said that he has a known case of chronic liver disease and he has been receiving treatment at this hospital for the last six months for his illness. He has been registered with the Tamil Nadu Organ Sharing (TNOS) waiting list for deceased donor liver transplantation. 'Currently, he is admitted at the Liver Intensive Care Unit with decompensated liver disease leading to liver failure, kidney failure and lung congestion', it said. He was receiving dialysis and other intensive care therapies. He was being taken care by a multidisciplinary team of liver specialists headed by transplant expert Prof Mohamed Rela. Ms Sasikala, who was a close-confidante of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, was now lodged in Bengaluru Central Prison following her conviction in the Disproportionate Assets case. Sasikala, along with her husband and other family members, including her nephew and now ousted Deputy General Secretary T TV Dhinakaran were expelled from the party in December 2011 for acting as a parallel power centre. Ms Jayalalithaa, expelled Sasikala, Natarajan and 12 of their close relatives from the primary membership of the AIADMK. Earlier, Ms. Sasikala, a member of the party's executive council, was sent out of the Jayalalithaaa's Poes Garden residence. Though Ms. Jayalalithaa gave no reason for their expulsion, party sources said interference of the family members in the administration and political overreach were the reasons for their expulsion. However, three months later, Jayalalithaa allowed Sasikala to return to Poes Garden residence after she tendered an apology and that she was deserting her family clan and would not clamour for any posts in the party. But the expulsion of others were not revoked, before Sasikala, after taking over 'Interim' General Secretary on December 31, 2016, re-inducted tow of her nephews Dhinakaran and Venkatesh into the Party, hours before surrendering before the trial court in Bengaluru and also made the former as the Deputy General Secretary, to have a complete control over party affairs.
