Srinagar, Aug 5 : Three youths were injured when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, where people had hit the streets as one of the three slain Lahker-e-Toiba(LeT) militants was a local resident. Immediately after the news spread about the killing of a local militant Abid Hamid Mir, people took to the streets at Saderkote on Srinagar-Bandipora road today. The demonstrators pelted stones on security forces and disrupted traffic on the road, official sources said, adding that later, the security forces opened fire in which three youths identified as Latief Ahmed Khan, Suhail Ahmed Bhat and Hilal Ahmed Wani were injured. The injured were admitted to local hospital from where one of them has been referred to Srinagar, they said. Additional paramilitary forces and state police personnel have been rushed to the area to restore peace, they said. Situation was very tense in other parts of the district, they said. UNI
