Apprehending trouble after the death of two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, including most wanted Abu Dujana, in an encounter on August 1 in Pulwama, the District Magistrate (DM), Srinagar, had imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPC in the areas under the jurisdiction of five police stations in SeK and downtown besides Kralkhud in the old city and Maisuma in the civil lines yesterday. There are no restriction in any part of Srinagar today, officials said. However, all other educational institutions were functioning normally in Srinagar today after remaining closed yesterday. Security forces and state police personnel had been withdrawn and all road blocks, including barbed wire were lifted to allow free movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. All the gates of historic Jamia Masajid, stronghold of chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, which were locked yesterday morning are open for devotees. The Jamia Market was also open as security forces and state police personnel had been withdrawn. However, locals alleged that it will be temporary relief as the government will again impose restrictions around the historic Masjid and close gates tomorrow, being Friday. They said no Friday prayers could be offered in the mosque for the past seven weeks due to restrictions. Though additional security forces remained deployed in strength in the civil lines, but there were no restrictions. UNI
