Restrictions in parts of Baramulla, educational institutions, mobile shut

Srinagar, Aug 5 :  Restrictions have been imposed in parts of north Kashmir district of Baramulla, where educational institutions were closed and mobile service snapped as a precautionary measure following the killing of two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants in an encounter in Sopore early this morning. Train service from Budgam to Baramulla has also been suspended for security reasons today. Official sources said restrictions have been imposed in old town and adjoining areas as a precautionary measure to prevent any law and order problem in Baramulla as one the three slain militant Javid Ahmad Dar was a resident of Khanpora Baramulla. All bridges on river Jehlum, connecting old town with Civil Lines and Uri highway, have been closed for any pedestrian or vehicular movement with barbed wire. However, stone pelting incidents were reported from some areas, including in Sopore. Additional security forces and state police personnel have been deployed in the old town, where shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic off the roads. However, traffic on Srinagar-Uri highway was plying normally though additional security forces had been deployed at several places, including Palahalan, Pattan and Narbal to foil any stone pelting and demonstrations. The authorities had ordered closure of educational institutions in the district as a precautionary measure. Work in government offices and banks was also affected because of restrictions and non-availability of transport. The authorities have suspended mobile service in Baramulla to foil spread of rumours on social media network. All rail runs from Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla have also been suspended today for security reasons. UNI
