New Delhi, Aug 4 : National Disaster Response Force Director General Sanjay Kumar today said the flood relief and rescue operations by the NDRF are in full swing in affected areas of Gujarat, Rajasthan and West Bengal. Briefing mediapersons here, Mr Kumar said, NDRF teams are on mission to provide immediate relief to flood victims and leaving no stone unturned to bring normalcy . Talking about the rescue operation in Gujarat, he said, "Relief and rescue operation are still underway in the worst affected areas of Gujarat. "Yesterday NDRF teams evacuated 650 people at Banaskatha, 155 people at Patan and Ahmadabad. NDRF teams also assisted in relief work and distributed 11800 food packets, 9600 water bottles and 75 blankets at Patan, 16000 water pouch and 8000 Food packets at Banaskatha. In addition to rescue and relief work, NDRF teams are also engaged to provide medical assistance to flood victims. NDRF team at Kutch, Bhuj provided medical assistance to 140 people." In Rajasthan, he said, NDRF team operational at Jalore and evacuated 87 people and distributed 225-food packets in flood affected areas yesterday. In West Bengal, NDRF team carried out operation in Hooghly, West Medinipur and Burdwan and rescued 146 people at Hooghly, 94 people at West Medinipur and 287 people at Burdwan, he pointed out. UNI
