New Delhi, Aug 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a meeting with Members of Parliament from eastern India and discussed various issues relating to the development of the region. "Discussed a wide range of issues, particularly on development of eastern India, with MPs from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal," Mr Modi said in a tweet. The meeting was also attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar. Among others the meeting was attended by Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Radha Mohan Singh, Jayant Sinha and S S Ahluwalia. The meeting comes a day after Prime Minister Modi visited northeastern region to review the flood situation there. The Prime Minister yesterday announced a relief package of more than Rs 2,000 crore for relief, rehabilitation, reconstruction and flood mitigation measures in the flood-affected north eastern states. The announcement came at the end of a series of high level meetings, where the Prime Minister reviewed the flood situation, and relief measures in the states from the region. Mr Modi through the course of the day yesterday held separate, detailed review meetings on the situation in the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland. The Chief Ministers of the respective states, and senior officials were present at the meetings. A memorandum was received from Chief Minister of Mizoram Lal Thanhawla, who could not personally make it to the meeting.
