BARAMULLA, AUGUST 25: Acting on a consumer complaint lodged against a leading school establishment of Baramulla, Legal Metrology Department, Baramulla filed a case against the school uniform seller for contravention of provisions of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 and for having infringed upon the consumer rights guaranteed to every consumer of the State under the J&K Consumer Protection Act, 1987.
The complainant had alleged overcharging and monopoly on sale of school uniforms. Subsequently, the uniform seller admitted to the lapse and requested for compounding of the offence. As a result, a fine of Rs. 10,000 was imposed upon the offender.

LMD has advised the consumers to share their grievances, if any, with the Department so that the same can be redressed in an effective and proper manner.
