Kolkata, Aug 26: Evergreen superhit Jodi of Bengali film Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta are once again back with a bang in National Award Winning Director Kaushik Ganguly’s next venture ‘Drishtikon’.
The duo made the headlines as soon as director Kaushik Ganguly announced the project.
The popular on-screen couple have already made their comeback in Shiboprosad-Nandita's blockbuster film 'Praktan' two years back but the film 'Drishtikon' is important for another reason, the film marks Kaushik's first film with both Prosenjit and Rituparna.
The superhit Jodi were the most talked about pair of the ’90’s till they parted professionally in 2001 after Jamaibabu Zindabad.
That their onscreen magic can woo the audience even in the era of Short Films and the digital release was proved when Praktan, a comeback film for the duo after 15 years in 2016, was a massive hit as soon as it released.
Kaushik, happy to have brought together the screen jodi, said, "Every time Srijit (Mukherji) offered them meaty roles, my film would take a backseat.
The crowd euphoria speaks volumes about the chemistry between the two stars.
" The National Award Winning director said, "Bumbada (Prosenjit) and Ritu share an electrifying chemistry, which has been proven time and again.
I'll be happy if I can uplift it to another level and add a new dimension to their legacy.
" Kaushik said, “With Prosenjit and Rituparna coming together, the yearning for a good movie from the audience would have always been high, no matter what I would have thought.
Directors, who had earlier directed them, had always done it successfully.
While they were ready to work together, I had to wait for the right content.
” “ With Drisihtikon, I guess we have got it (the content).
It’s a love story, a very unusual one.
A love story, which the audience has never experienced before,” he added.
Actor Prosenjit said, "Ritu and I will be work together in KG's film, Drishtikon.
After Praktan, many directors had approached us, but we wanted to work with a director who's sensitive and can handle our camaraderie as actors.
” “Both of us wanted to work together and this is the right script.
I'm sure KG will discover another side of our on-screen chemistry," Prosenjit said.
“This is the first time I will be working with Kaushik Ganguly and I am looking forward to working with him,”said an excited Rituparna.
Rituparna, who too has been looking for a chance to work with Kaushik, feels that he's one director who can extract the best from the Prosenjit-Rituparna jodi.
"Drishtikon is an unusual love story with lots of layers and I'm sure people will love it," she said.
The filmis being produced by Surinder Films, which had also produced Jamaibabu Zindabad.
Drishtikon is Surinder Films’ 50th film.
Churni Ganguly and Gaurav Chakrabarty are a part of this project along with Kaushik Ganguly, who too is portraying a significant role in it.
The shooting of the film will start after Durga Puja. UNI
