Shimla,
Aug 26: Supply of essential commodities, including milk and vegetables,
was snapped today in the capital town of Himachal Pradesh. Due to prevailing
tension in many places in Haryana and Punjab after conviction of Dera chief
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh at CBI court at Panchkula yesterday, supply of milk,
bread and other milk products could not be made to Shimla, Solan, Kandaghat and
other nearby areas. Milk and bread dealer at Lower Bazaar Tinku said that they did
not get any supply today. Deputy Commissioner (Shimla), Rohan Chand Thakur,
said that additional supply of milk and bread was made on Thursday and Friday
ahead of the verdict in the 'Godman's' case. The Administration had cautioned
the traders to not hoard these items and supply them on inflated prices.
Aditional Deputy Commissioner (Shimla), Rakesh Kumar Prajapati said that 66,000
litre of milk and 10,600 bread packets were supplied yesterday. State Civil
supply Corporation provided about 9,900 quintal stock of rice, 1528 quintal of
sugar, 1,696 quintal of pulses, 5252 quintal of wheat flour and 10,635 litres
of edible oil. Supply of LPG cylinders is reported normal in the state as
various gas agencies had stock of 8,881 cylinders. Petrol pumps have stock of
96,000 litre of petrol and 97,000 litre of diesel. UNI
