Bhopal, Jul 19 : The Madhya Pradesh Assembly today continued discussion on the second consecutive day on an adjournment motion – moved by the principal opposition Congress – over farmers’ issue and last month’s agitation during which peasants were killed in police firing in Mandsaur District. Soon after Question Hour ended, Leader of the Opposition Ajay Singh urged Speaker Sitasaran Sharma that only nine Congress members could place their viewpoints during the discussion yesterday and opportunity should be provided to other members for discussion. Consequently, Dr Sharma accorded consent to the other members to present their views in brief following which Mr Umang Singhar (Cong) initiated the discussion. Mr Singhar alleged that peasants are suffering due to faulty policies of the state regime. Mr Vikram Singh (Cong) said that a case should be registered against police personnel whose have less cartridges than provided to them. Mr OS Markam, Mr RK Dogne, Mr Harsh Yadav, Mr Saurabh Singh and Mr Nilesh Awasthi (all Cong) also took part in the discussion. Dr Rajendra Pandey (ruling Bharatiya Janata Party) accused certain Congress leaders of making provocative speeches. Mr OP Saklecha, Dr Mohan Yadav and Mr PN Pathak (all BJP) also took part in the discussion. Earlier, the House witnessed an over six-hour-long discussion on the adjournment motion. The Congress tried to corner the regime over farmers’ issue. On the other hand, several ministers and other BJP members countered their attack. UNI
