New Delhi, Jul 18 : BSP chief Mayawati today resigned her seat in the Upper House of Parliament protesting against what she said the gross failure to protect the interest of Dalits. The BSP sources said she has sent in her letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman. "Our party leader's stand is very clear. Behenji said she ought to give up membership of the Rajya Sabha as the ruling dispensation and the BJP is not allowing her even to speak in Parliament," a source said. Earlier in the day, Ms Mayawati had threatened in the House that if she is stopped from making her point on anti-Dalit violence in Saharanpur, "she will quit". UNI
