In his first ever public reaction over the row created by actor Kamal Haasan following his corruption remarks, triggering strong rebuttals from Ministers, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami said the actor does not know politics and that he would respond once he takes the political plunge.


Chennai, July 19 :  In his first ever public reaction over the row created by actor Kamal Haasan following his corruption remarks, triggering strong rebuttals from Ministers, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami said the actor does not know politics and that he would respond once he takes the political plunge. Talking to reporters after paying tributes at the memorial of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at the Marina after the conclusion of the current Assembly session, the Chief Minister said 'Kamal does not know politics....he is 'acting'. 'If he comes to politics and make the charges (corruption), we will respond to it', he added. A few days ago, Kamal said, there was a system failure in Tamil Nadu and that there was rampant corruption in all departments, triggering strong reactions from the Ministers, though several Opposition parties, including the DMK, Congress, MDMK, VCK, CPI, CPI(M), Naam Thamizhar rallied behind Kamal Haasan and said his remarks only reflected the people's voice. They also pledged their support to the actor, who has been targetted by some fringe Hindu outfits, which demanded his arrest and a ban on his reality show 'Bigg Boss', as it tarnished Tamil culture. Meanwhile, replying to questions, Mr Palaniswami said the main of the AIADMK regime was to fulfill the aspirations of 'Amma' and the government was functioning in that direction. He also said several new schemes were announced for the welfare people in the Assembly, which went on well. He also exuded confidence of both the warring factions coming together. UNI
