People asked to get their power
connections legalized by July 23
REASI, JULY 19: District Development
Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar, today issued an advisory to the general public
for making all illegal power connections legal by 23 July to avoid any
stringent action against them.
The
decision was taken in a meeting of officers called by DDC to discuss measures
for further streamlining of power distribution system particularly curbing
power thefts in the district. Besides, several decisions for conducting raids,
inspections and other exercises were also taken up.
Among others ADC Babu Ram, SSP Tahir
Bhat, Executive Engineer PDD Thakur Dass, Tehsildar Reasi Rajesh Attri and
other officers from civil and police were present in the meeting.
The DDC constituted four checking
squads comprising officers from revenue, police and PDD to conduct surprise
raids
in the dwelling areas on regular basis. In four squads, first will cover the
area of Reasi town, Gran more, Geeta Nagar, Seela, Vijay Pur, Mari etc while
the second squad will cover Katra town and its periphery.
Third squad will conduct raids in
Pouni, Bharak, Ransoo and other left out areas of Tehsil Pouni and fourth squad
will exclusively work for Arnas, Mahore and Chasana where joint inspections
would be initiated by the officers.
The DDC instructed the officers for
proper identification of the illegal connections and initiate steps to register
them instantly. He asked for initiating stringent action on those who do not
cooperate with the checking teams. He also stressed on officers to start
campaign with imposing simple fines and then move to intensive penalty.
Meanwhile, a total of 32 feeders were
allotted to different officers in the electrical sub-divisions for regular
inspections and streamlining power system, of which, 10 fall in Katra, 7 in
Reasi, 5 in Pouni and 10 in Dharmari.
The DDC asked the concerned to spread
awareness through different mediums so that local people are well informed and
apply for registration of their power connections.
The DDC sought daily reporting from
the checking squads.
