The Central Government today told the Supreme Court that it did not and would not support any vigilantism in the cow vigilante issue and law and order is a state subject. "We don't support any vigilantism in the cow issue," the Central government told a bench, headed by Justice Dipak Misra. Appropriate actions and steps have been taken against those individuals who have taken law into their own hands and the police have registered cases against them.

The Central Government today told the Supreme Court that it did not and would not support any vigilantism in the cow vigilante issue and law and order is a state subject. "We don't support any vigilantism in the cow issue," the Central government told a bench, headed by Justice Dipak Misra. Appropriate actions and steps have been taken against those individuals who have taken law into their own hands and the police have registered cases against them. The Centre submitted that Parliament has also been informed that the government does not not support any such activities. The states of Gujarat, Jharkhand and Karnataka have also filed their responses in the case. Gujarat said the action has been taken against those persons, who were allegedly involved in illegal activities in the Gau rakshaks matter. Now, the apex court had fixed the matter for further hearing till September 6. UNI
