At least eight people, including four women and a child, were killed and 11 injured as cloudburst hit the mountainous Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir. "Cloudburst hit during wee hours today at around 0220 hrs in main bazar of Thathri in Doda district," police said here today.

Jammu, Jul 20 : At least eight people, including four women and a child, were killed and 11 injured as cloudburst hit the mountainous Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir. "Cloudburst hit during wee hours today at around 0220 hrs in main bazar of Thathri in Doda district," police said here today.They said six people have been found dead so far, while structures including houses, schools and shops also got damaged. "So far six bodies have been recovered from the debris in Thathri," police said. The recovered were identified of Neeru Devi,35, Sureshta Devi, Patna Devi, Sapna Devi, 14, daughter of Dev Raj, Priya Devi,7, daughter of Dev Raj, Rahul,9, son of Dev Raj, residents of Nagni, Tehsil Kahara. "Six houses, two shops and one National Academy High School at Thathri was also partially damaged in the flash floods triggered due to cloudburst," they added. Police said that rescue operation is on and 11 injured have been rushed to the hospital. In a separate incident, Cloudburst also hit in Dool area of Kishtwar. "A woman and her grandson while many cattle got washed away when cloudburst hit Chichwara Cherji village in Dool," Sandeep Wazir, SSP Kishtwar here told UNI. 'Flash flood razed one mud house and watermill in village Chichwara, Kishtwar," said the SSP. He said that one Kungi Devi,45, wife of Krishan Lal, resident of Chichwara and her grandson Samrat,6, who were inside Watermill along with 11 animals including cows, calf and sheeps got washed away. Civil administration and senior Police officers rushed to the spot while body of woman has been recovered and operation was in progress to trace the child, he said. UNI
