Jul 19 : A ten-day camp for 300 NCC cadets from various parts of Kashmir
valley was conducted at Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) in this
summer capital till today. A Defence Ministry spokesperson said NCC camp was
organised by 3 J&K Bn NCC under the aegis of NCC Group Headquarters,
Srinagar. He said the Cadets belonging to North and South Kashmir took part in
various activities like drill, running, yoga, debate, quiz, map reading, firing
etc. The Spokesperson said NCC camps are an opportunity for the children to
take part in various training, cultural and sports activities which moulds and
motivates them for joining the armed forces and also prepare them to become
responsible citizens always ready to assist the government and Non government
agencies in situations like fire hazards, traffic management and other
unforeseen calamities. He said the camp also gave the cadets an insight on
leadership, man management, fire fighting awareness, traffic ethos and hygiene
and sanitation. “It was a rare opportunity for the NCC cadets to witness the
Passing out Parade of the recruits at JAK LI Centre which motivated many a
young minds to join the league of the braves,” he said. He said the most
significant day of the camp came on July 16, 2017 when Brig AS Kasana, Group
Commander NCC Gp HQ, Srinagar addressed the Cadets and shared his experience
during Op Vijay for which he was awarded the prestigious Vir Chakra. “A dog
show by the 4 Army Dog Unit and a Blood donation Camp where a number of Cadets
participated voluntarily was another highlight of the camp,” he said, adding
the Camp concludes today with the Cultural evening by the Cadets amongst whom
few would grace the Special National Integration Camp at Leh. UNI
